Tagging visiting companies in A1WebStats

Analytics data can often be overwhelming.  Sometimes you just want certain things of importance to jump out at you.

We’ve added a feature into A1WebStats that makes it easier for you to spot certain types of companies that visit your website.

Previously, if you wanted to view companies that had visited your website, you would have a view something like this:

While it’s possible to see the company names, it would be better if you had the option to tag them in some way so that they jump out at you more while you’re scanning through visiting companies data.  For example, the screenshot below shows one company with green arrows on them (which signifies ‘clients/contacts’) and one company with a red arrow on them (which signifies ‘prospects’).  This allows you to quickly see when clients/contacts or prospects have been to the website …

We have provided (and may provide more if demand is high enough) a range of tags you can allocate to companies that you have identified in certain ways.   Those tags are shown below …

So, if you identify an existing customer/contact has been to the website you can tag them with a green arrow.  A prospect gets tagged with a red arrow, and a competitor gets tagged with a blue arrow.   You may also have suppliers (which can be tagged with a blue spot) and there is a question mark box that lets you flag up others.

To tag companies, simply go to the Companies view of your data and click on the company name that you want to tag.  For example we want to tag the company below as being a ‘prospect’ (because they’ve been to the website many times) …

By clicking on the company name we get to this view, which includes a history of visits that company has made to the website …

By clicking on the pull-down from ‘Categorise Company As:’ we can select the company as being a Prospect …

After clicking on the ‘Update >>’ button, when we go back to our list of Companies we see that the prospect has been updated with a red arrow, which means that any time they come back to the website in the future, we can see at a glance when they have visited.  All we have to do is look out for those tagged with red arrows …

The key advantage in tagging companies is that you can quickly scan your data and focus initially on what’s most important to you.  It also helps you to avoid missing out on an important website visit, which may otherwise have gone unnoticed if it had been ‘lost’ amongst all the other data.
